The French Revolution was a great turning point of the Feudal System. As the King and Queen set up a social and working class, the groups of men and women were separated in the 3 groups.
The first estate was the Catholic Clergy, which was made up of noble religious men. Meanwhile the second estate was made up of noblemen from wealthy families. The third and last estate which had barely and government power or say, was built up of everyone else. Basically these estates showed how much power or say you had in the society. The combination of the three estates were called the Old Regime.
The Old Regime was a cruel system, in which the nobles, and the wealthy barely decided to pay taxes, meanwhile the lower class; the Third estate which was made up of the poor, had to pay over 50% of France's income tax. While the lower class was doing the work, Many of the nobles, clergymen, and the king himself were resting/living life as their workers barely survived.
